It is not always easy to get motivated to work your style, especially when amongst close friends and family. These are the people who know you better than yourself so why bother? When you are feeling especially unmotivated, remember that when you look great, you will feel great.

Without further ado, here is the final installment of holiday outfits 2010.

You could play into the expected role this year – the mid-life-crisis Mom, the Cougar, the Scrapbooking Grandma, the Tomboy or the Mama’s Boy. Or you can reinvent yourself as someone who looks put together.

Try these ideas for a fresh take on dressing up a casual outfit for the holidays, including Plus, Petite & Men.

A simple open-front sweater with a little frill in a festive color (Kohl’s, $50) is an easy top layer. This type of sweater pairs great with a sequin top, a pretty print or a fresh t-shirt & a pair of jeans. Add your personal style with accessories like a shiny hammered disc necklace (Nordstrom, $278), a blue-themed beaded clutch (Endless, $228) and a lace-meets-zipper shoe (Donald J Pliner, Endless, $325).
Incorporate a touch of glamour with this sequin-sleeve sweater (Lane Bryant, $59.50) paired with a great pair of dark denim jeans. Add in a stunning chain fringe necklace (Fiona Paxton, ShopBop, $298), a rufflicious lavender clutch (Endless, $108) and a chains & tweet pump (Ann Taylor, $198) for a mixed-yet-matching ensemble.
A classic v-neck sweater (Ann Taylor LOFT, check stores for inventory, $60) with an updated style is a great match for my favorite bootcut petite jeans for petites (DKNY, Macy’s, $48). Dress this simple approach up with a glassy gem & gold necklace (Amanda Pearl, Endless, $388), an unforgettable Christopher Straub Petals Clutch (Christopher Straub, $130) and an incredibly fun glittery fabric pump (J. Renee, Endless, $90).
Men can make casual look easy and stylish in a herringbone sweater vest (Kohl’s, $42) with a crisp dress shirt that sports a basic pattern (Kohl’s, $42). Take it down to the ground with a dress sneaker (Boss, Nordstrom, $125) and you’re set.

You can be comfortable and stylish at the same time. Dark jeans will convey a dressier style and don’t be shy with the accessories!
