Two Fer…All Dressed Up for Friday Fun & Sunday w/Dad & a Grad

Friday’s outfit took me from a fun meeting with Gretchen Ditto of Ditto & Co. to a delicious lunch with local Web designer and jewelry artist Chelsey Mona, a.k.a. @silverbugstudio. Navy and white dress: Talbots petites.  I think of this as my sailor dress.  I’ve worn it to a wedding, sans sweater and with a dressy pair of heels.  This could also be paired with a denim, cotton or lightweight wool jacket and pumps to make it business professional. Black cardigan: Ann Taylor...

During Sunday’s #stylechat on Twitter, @k_nikki asked about dresses.  She wanted to know how to wear them for work. To help demonstrate, I thought I’d compare and contrast the same dress used for several different occasions using virtual fitting rooms. The casual, basic looks from left to right above are H&M Fashion Studio, Boden Outfit Maker and My Virtual Model. H&M – The Abstract Print Dress This virtual fitting room gets an A for quality and being representative...

Here are my Thursday & Friday outfits, in honor of Sally McGraw and her Already Pretty blog challenge. Thursday (left): Magenta linen/cotton jean jacket: Eddie Bauer petites.  I really love this alternative jean jacket – it’s a great color and I’m so happy I went with a smaller size.  It fits me great.  The only drawback is that it’s not as fitted from the back as it is from the front. White ruffle blouse: Ann Taylor LOFT petites.  The shirt is a tad large on...

Smart Casual Outfit for First of June…Is It Summer Yet?

Posted by on Jun 2, 2010 in Summer of Dresses 2010, Women's Petite Sizes, Women's Style | 2 comments

I had a networking/planning meeting today with a couple of women, which didn’t require a power outfit so I went with a more relaxed, but smart, outfit. Cotton green ruffled sweater: Talbots petites, still love the color, ruffle detail and gold buttons. Cotton floral printed blouse: Ann Taylor LOFT petites, wish this shirt had a little spandex in it, but overall, one of my favorite spring/summer tops. Denim skirt: Ann Taylor LOFT petites, I wear this skirt so much, I hope it lasts through...

Open with Caution…Double Ruffle, as Promised

Posted by on May 25, 2010 in Summer of Dresses 2010, Women's Petite Sizes, Women's Style | 0 comments

First of all, my apologies regarding the huge margins on today’s photo. Second, I wanted to share today’s outfit because a) I love this green cardigan, b) I love pairing it with this white blouse and c) I love that ruffles are feminine, pretty and soft. Over the weekend, I helped a group of women discover ways to mix and match and this idea of a double-ruffle came up.  One woman bravely donned my shirt and sweater with her brown pants.  You could hear a pin drop. Then gasps,...
